Great place for a picnic but parking can be sparse on weekends and public holidays. Walk to King Island at low tide is a must do as is watching the sun set over the water as the left side of the point gives a view towards the west. Can be windy at times as barbeque areas are right next to the water and quite exposed. They are lit at night though.Sand is red and gritty but beach is fine for swimming and shallow enough for toddlers. Good place for Kayaking or paddle board. There's even a lifeguard on duty in summer.
Fantastic place to spend a day having a picnic, bbq or celebrate a birthday. Have a swim or walk out to King Island ( make sure you do that when the tide is going out ) Go fishing or sailboarding, you're sure to have a great day out. Dog friendly too!
Great spot for a stroll. Playground for kids that is well shaded. Life guards on duty. Coffee, fish and chips, dining restaurant. Fishing jetty wonderful public space for the family.
It's great for walking the dog. The beach lets you walk to King Island on a low tide. After a busy weekend trash is spread out over a bit of it mostly from bin chickens (ibis). The boat ramp is good for boats. Not so good for jetskis if you're launching by yourself as there is only a pebble/rock beach to beach the ski on while you park the car.
The wife and I do a walk from the Wellington Point village down around the spit area in the reserve and back to the top a few times a week. As do many other people. The reserve area is always well frequented by people doing the walk across the sand bar to Kings Island (at low tide), swimming in the small beach area (there is a life guard in attendance) as well as fishing off the pier and just chilling in the park area having a BBQ. There's plenty of parking and well worth a visit.
